Despertar Holdings, Inc. is the U.S. company that develops and distributes the Despertar digital platform, available today in Venezuela and Colombia. We do not issue policies or assume risk: every insurance product you see on Despertar is issued by an insurer authorized in its country and intermediated by the local Despertar entity licensed to do so.

Who we are
Despertar was created to simplify the way people in Latin America buy and use their insurance. Despertar Holdings, Inc., incorporated in the state of Delaware, United States of America, is the technology company that designs, develops, and distributes the Despertar mobile app and digital platforms.
Despertar Holdings, Inc. is not an insurance company and does not act as an insurance broker or agent in any country. The intermediation of the insurance products you can purchase through Despertar is handled by the local entities licensed to do so in each market, described below.

Parent company and technology developer
Incorporated under the laws of the state of Delaware, United States of America. Develops and publishes the Despertar mobile app and web platforms. It is not an insurer or an insurance intermediary in any country.
Venezuela — Despertar Seguros Sociedad de Corretaje, S.A.
Insurance broker
RIF J-50496276-7. An insurance brokerage company authorized by the Superintendencia de la Actividad Aseguradora (SUDEASEG) under authorization SCSMP-000051. It is this company, and not Despertar Holdings, Inc., that acts as insurance broker before you and before the insurers.

Insurance placement agency
NIT 901.329.295-8. Acts as an insurance placement agency on behalf of partner insurers. Despertar Colombia Ltda. is not an entity directly supervised by the Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia (SFC); the insurers it works with are duly authorized and supervised by the SFC.
